How To Stop A Squeaky Bed
July 29th, 2010 | by admin |A squeaky bed can be troublesome. It can indicate a bed about to break, it could indicate a broken mattress or some other activity! Whatever the case may be, there are ways to maintain a bed till you buy a new one. In this article we will look at how to prolong a bed, and fix a bed when it is squeaky. Beds come in all shapes and sizes, however in essence a bed is made up of the mattress, as well as the bed frame itself. Bed mattresses come in several different versions. One is the coil/spring types which are the most common ones to be found. Another type is the air bed versions, and even memory foam versions, which are becoming more popular today. The bed frame can be made out of several different materials. Some can be entirely made out of wood, plastic or metal. And they can even be made from a combination of all these. The first thing you will want to do is ascertain what is actually happening. Is the problem with the bed mattress or is it with the bed frame? It could be both, but generally it will be one or the other. With bed mattresses, the problem will mainly be found with coil/spring versions, as they contain springs. It is at this point that you have to consider whether the bed is about to break, and you need a new one or if you need to fix something. If the mattress is falling apart, then it is not that difficult to replace, and won’t cost as much as replacing the whole bed. So how do you know if you need a new mattress? If the mattresses springs are digging into your back or if some springs don’t seem like they can hold your weight then it is time to replace the mattress. A good idea is to turn the mattress over. This can have a positive effect and prolong the life of the mattress. It is a good idea to do this generally every few months to keep the mattress working in optimum condition for longer. With the bed frame, if you have problems, then it is essential to look at the bolts that hold the bed together or joints. On occasion these can come loose, and a set of screwdrivers will allow you to tighten the screws or bolts. It is always a good idea to get a sturdy bed frame as not only do they last longer, they are less likely to be flimsy and make noise. Buying a replacement bed often comes with a new mattress, however, if you find that the mattress is what has the problem, then finding a replacement mattress is not that difficult. There are many retail stores that sell mattresses, as well as being able to buy them online. Make sure you know the size of your existing mattress and bed size, so you can buy the right mattress.
