Where do you live? If you are on a tight budget, you can get whatever you need for free if you go to freecycle.org and look for your country and city. If your city has a freecycle membership club, these are people who are ardent recyclers and would rather have things they don’t want anymore given to others who will use them rather than to throw them in a landfill or store them in their garage or basement.
Freecycles offer beds, refrigerators, TV’s, couches, curtains, carpets, stoves, clothes, sometimes old running cars, computers, monitors and many, many, many other free things that are not wanted anymore.
You simply read the ads, email the person offering the item you’re interested in, and if they pick you as the recipient of the item, they will send you their phone # or address and you go and pick the thing up yourself ….. for free. NOBODY is allowed to charge ANY money for their furniture or things.
It’s perfect. Try there.

Look for hotel furniture surplus sales in metropolitan areas… when a hotel re-decorates they sell their old furniture to a surplus wholesaler & they’ll advertise a "Three Days Only" or "This Weekend Only" type sale.
Look in your telephone book for "Furniture-Wholesale" for these kind of dealers. Keep calling & asking, you’ll find one or two dealers.
You can get a well constructed, and anywhere from reasonably to great looking, fold-out sofa bed or a folding cot (up to a double bed size) for very little money at these type of sales.
Hope this helps,
TX Griff

Futons are great, you can get a fairly inexpensive frame, but SPLURGE on the mattress. The thicker you can get the more comfy you will sleep. If you get a cheap futon, you will feel every ridge and bump in the frame.
