Can u use a bedframe with an air mattress ?
February 22nd, 2010 | by admin |Currently i’m living with my parents and sleeping on an air mattress that i’m in love with (8XD). I’m in the process of moving out and want to get a bedframe for the air matress but my mom says it wont work becuase it will pop. She says the sides of the frame will put pressure on it and make it pop. I think thats wrong but i want others opinions before i buy a bedframe. Its a standard twin so logically i can just buy a twin frame and put the mattress in right?
It should work fine, as long as you have a solid platform under the mattress (such as plywood or a box-spring).

You have to have either plywood or slats to hold the bed up. We’ve put a air mattress on a futon frame before and it worked well.

You sure can. All you have to do is cut pluwood either in wide strips (about 2′ by bed width) and put them in the frame to avoid having pressure at just the outside edges. Or put a piece of plywood in the frame the same size as a twin bed to make it even less likey to have a problem. You should probably use 3/4" inch thick plywood and you can usually have the local lumberyard cut it to the size you need like Lowes or Home Depot. You just need to measure the bed frame and make it a little smaller to fit inside the outside rails if it has them. I recommend using about three 2′ by bed width strips so you can easily fit it in your car if you can’t get your hands on a truck.
