The problem is that hammocks without a crossbar can fold in on itself - making what is essentially a loose rope hanging between two trees.  If you accidentally were to get tangled in that, it can on rare occasions end up wrapped around someones neck and causing strangulation.  The main risk is small kids who aren&#039;t big enough to save themselves.</description>

And really, 10 people a year.... They would have recalled hammocks in America if 10 kids were killed a year. Hammocks are just as safe as tents.</description>
