(My sister always brings a golf club and some wiffle golf balls so her husband and son can practice teeing off.) Another thing that might make it more fun: bring your babysitter! If the burden of watching your boys (worrying they'll wander off, etc.) is part of the reason he can't enjoy camping, having an extra set of eyes along to watch them is perfect! Bring along some messy craft projects for the little ones to assemble, have them collect rocks and paint them, giant coloring books, paints, etc. The kind of stuff you wouldn't necessarily let them do at home. Have the babysitter keep them engaged so you can relax a little more. If you can, make that first trip to a highly developed campground, rather than a remote / "roughing it" type of place. Developed / private sites often have playgrounds and children's activities that will provide a little more safety for the kids. Last, get the whole family out on a nature walk. Let your husband enjoy seeing your boys discover bugs, animal tracks, leaves on the ground, whatever it is. Kids get amazed by just about everything - they can hunt for walking sticks to use on the trip. Do a lot of the packing of the gear yourself. Between camping trips put the camping gear in an easy to get to area and keep it all organized. Does he like to read?.....get him a hammock and tell him to bring some books along. heres what i did to coinvince her::
