Setting up our new Coleman Weathermaster 10 in advance of an upcoming camping trip. Tents have come a long way since the heavy canvas cabins I remember from camping trips as a kid. Despite some of the negative reviews, I had no trouble setting this up in about 45 minutes with some “help” from my son (AKA the Karate Kid, AKA Aang). Once up, it seems roomy enough for at least two queen-sized air mattresses and all our gear. Sure, you could fit 10 people in this tent, but you better know each other well. For a family of 4 + a dog, this will be more than adequate…probably even comfortable. The materials seem strong enough, the poles are steel, the window bows and “hinged door” are the only fiberglass shock cord pieces. I also read one or two reviews from folks who maybe didn’t understand what “free standing” means. This tent will stay up without the rain-fly or guy-wires. If you’re going to be camping in inclement weather, you would definitely want to stake down the guys of the fly. If the weather is light and clear, leaving the fly off would give you an awesome view of the stars, and the tent will remain sturdy. We’re pretty excited to go put this tent through its’ paces in the Great Outdoors.

The wind hit 60mph and it was whipping the Coleman tent around so bad that we had to hold it up. Some of the rain got in and there were tree branches falling on and all around the tent. It was exciting but also a little scary. Now I have my first little survival adventure early on into the trip. Right now, the weather is muggy, but nice. We’re glad not to have to spend the vacation in hotels, and we have some more roadtripping to follow! But for now, I just want to start another campfire and get the grill going. Yay camping!

and i’ve been wondreing how to in flate it.my sports pumps and bike pumps are to small and supposedly there is meant to be a bult i pump which i think i’ve located but have no iddea how to use it as the product did not come with instructions???
any ideas?
