Good stuff. I do lots of the same as you. Just started using the tortellini’s. Some of the taste of india stuff is cool cause you just put the bag in boiling water, no mess at all! And it’s good stuff!
Hey for that soup, you can open it, then dump the dried veggies into a sandwich or 1quart zip lock bag. Then dump the noodles out, they will be shaped like the cup. Just crush the noodles in a paper towel with your fist or a rolling pin or something. Dump the crushed noodle clumps into the ziplock too. throw the flavor packet in there.
Now when your on the trail, the ziplock takes up far less space, and you dont have so much trash. Reuse the ziplock for a small trashbag or additional storage.
This is a good video. Just wanted to add a few things. The Thai dinner he talks about towards the end of the video is now available in a single serving. Add one of the chicken packets and some individual soy packets, and WOW, great trail dinner.
Also, for dinner, packaged spanish rice, chicken packet, and TacoBell individual taco sauce on a flour tortilla…light and delicious. Very light to carry.
besides summer sausage I like Jerky or Kabanos, they last a long time, jerky almost forever…
Oh, Kabanos are like a cross between summer sausage and peperoni, come in sticks, dried out and generally last about 6 months to a year. You can usually find them in most stores around the same place you find the sausage.
This was really good. I’m just getting into backpacking myself and I was rather clueless on the food side. This really showed me that you can get quite creative.
Although I think its going to take me a few trips to figure things out, I have a great place to start now!
hey im wondering if you could help me find a backpack. its for when me and my family go to our cabin and sometimes we go hiking for the whole day and im not haveing any luck finding one
I like making noodles with OXO(broth powder).
tastes really good.
I like bring super dried jerky, dried potatoes, a can of carrots and flour to make a really good stew, amazing how easy it is.
you can also forget about the carrots and flour and bring some crackers instead, then you can make a tasty soup that we call fricot, really good too.
