If you are interested in saving as much weight as you can, try a GO-LITE backpack. I recently bought one about the same size as the North Face mentioned, the GO-LITE pack weighs 3 lbs. It doesn't have all the features and seems more fragile than the North Face.......one pound nine ounces lighter. The heck with it, choices are tough, buy what you like and what feels comfortable for you!

I've been backpacking, since I was eighteen, I have bought many packs, currently own 7 or 8, and I still haven't found the perfect pack in 38 years of searching.
