I didnt learn anything…just to take one lol…but i know how to use the standard orienteering compass, but my friend took along a engineers compass that is significantly different and it took me a while to learn it and I got us through but it was sketchy at times

it behooves you to have a MAP!!! along with a compass or a gps… unless you have a mapping unit (shows digital topographic info) all you’ll have is lats and longs, or grid refs with nothing to relate it to on the ground…
glad she break into triangulation and map datums….
