Day 2. I hike back out to my camp in pouring rain to attempt to build a fire. This video is shot after 72 + hours of continuous rainfall. I was glad to have the opportunity to practice this essential skill in these conditions.
Went stealth camping at the local reservoir last night (2 September 2009). I wanted to get some good photos of the sunset, but I knew I wouldn’t feel like biking home afterward. I brought along my camping gear and found a good spot once the other people there had left. The video just shows some of the gear I brought along, my campsite, etc.
www.brookstone.com This elevated air bed looks and feels more like a real mattress. With all of the height, roominess and comfort of a conventional queen-size bed, the Supreme Air-Flow Bed features a unique airflow system that decreases motion transfer and can even be customized to desired firmness. Great for overnight guests… or for you.
I’ll be on a day-long trip and wearing a wetsuit. If I need to go..how do I deal with it:) Do they stop the boat or what? How do you go if in the wetsuit?

I’m looking for decent campgrounds near University of Colorado at Boulder that are good for tent camping. Can anyone suggest any, and list websites? I’m in California and trying to research before I get there. Also, maybe some places to find camp gear near the campus?

Setting up our new Coleman Weathermaster 10 in advance of an upcoming camping trip. Tents have come a long way since the heavy canvas cabins I remember from camping trips as a kid. Despite some of the negative reviews, I had no trouble setting this up in about 45 minutes with some “help” from my son (AKA the Karate Kid, AKA Aang). Once up, it seems roomy enough for at least two queen-sized air mattresses and all our gear. Sure, you could fit 10 people in this tent, but you better know each other well. For a family of 4 + a dog, this will be more than adequate…probably even comfortable. The materials seem strong enough, the poles are steel, the window bows and “hinged door” are the only fiberglass shock cord pieces. I also read one or two reviews from folks who maybe didn’t understand what “free standing” means. This tent will stay up without the rain-fly or guy-wires. If you’re going to be camping in inclement weather, you would definitely want to stake down the guys of the fly. If the weather is light and clear, leaving the fly off would give you an awesome view of the stars, and the tent will remain sturdy. We’re pretty excited to go put this tent through its’ paces in the Great Outdoors.
