How much to you pay Guides for white water rafting, rock climbing etc in WV?

February 2nd, 2010 | by admin |

I am going to Ace Adventure place next month. I read somewhere on their site that guide gratuities are extra, which is fine but I have no idea how much it should be. We are doing 1/2 day rock climbing, horse back riding, and zip lines (Canopy tour), and a full day of white water rafting. Also visiting caverns for a guided wild cavern exploration. Thanks!

I would say it depends on how much fun you have and how many guides there are. For a full day of something, a $20 tip for the guide is nice. For shorter activities, $5-$10 is reasonable. Keep in mind that most of these people don’t make much money, and they do it because they enjoy it. Also, keep in mind that sometimes it’s not easy on a guide. They may have to deal with people who are scared or not fit enough for an activity, so even if they are a little crabby, cut them some slack.
