What is proper attire when going white water rafting?
March 8th, 2010 | by admin |I’m going white water rafting at in about 3 hours and I leave in like one and half hours so….I kinda need to what i should wear and what i should take up there? Should I just wear what I wear to the pool which is a shirt, some swimming trunks and sandals??
It’s probably a bit late to answer, but you probably could get along fine with what you suggested. Most rafting companies will advise you to not wear cotton shirts because they can make you very cold if it gets breezy and you are still wet, but they are great when it’s 95 degrees out. Sandals are fine for most passengers on easy runs, but if you’re going to be doing a lot of climbing and carrying, it’s better to have shoes that protect your toes.
Most good rafting companies will provide you with booties and wetsuits if you need them, and of course they will provide you with PFDs and helmets as required by river conditions.
Of course, I am assuming that you are rafting in a place that’s hot and the water isn’t excessively cold. Some people raft and kayak year round, and you need special gear for cold weather boating.
