Best cities for combination of rock climbing, snowboarding and white water rafting?

I was thinking of moving to say… Utah or Colorado somewhere. I love all 3 of those activities, but I dont want somewhere boring or with a high cost of living…. HELP!

How do you drag your deer out of the woods if you also have a climbing tree stand and gear?

I’ve been hunting for three years now (still new and learning), mainly on private property but am looking on hunting on public land this year. I decided to buy a climbing tree stand which will weight around 26lbs. I also carry my backpack and bow. With that said, how do you guys carry all that equipment out of the woods along with dragging your deer? I don’t want to leave my equipment behind while dragging the deer out, then return to pickup my stuff. I’m guessing that I would need to leave the deer behind, hike back to the truck with my equipment and stand, then return to find and drag the deer out. How do you all do it?

I’m going to work at a summer camp….looking for a cool, unique yet comfy all in one kinda shoe. The North Face W Padda’s look nice overall but I’m not too pleased with their sole support. I was also looking at some of the La Sportiva shoes…but idk. Any suggestions? Please and thank you!

Who is the best outfitter (camping, climbing, etc)?

My boyfriend’s birthday is coming up. I want to get him a gift certificate for an outfitter for clothes, camping/hiking gear, climbing, etc. He lives in Big Bend National Park in Texas, so he is nowhere near any stores. So he does all his gear purchases online.

I have shopped from altrec.com, some friends at backcountry.com. My boyfriend has been on steepandcheap.com, but they don’t have gift certificates.

I tried posting this in outdoor recreation and got zero answers.

So, who’s the best to get a gift certificate from? Thank you!

Climbing Kilimanjaro – what gear would be recommended?

Hey guys,

I’m planning on climbing (hiking) Kili this December.
I’m not a regular or avid climber and thus will need to buy a good load of gear. The only problem is that there are so many conflicting ideas, and I don’t know what to believe, though I’m sure they are all right to some extent.

Now, knowing it will be December, temperatures will probably be warmer than other months, but rain may be high. This is the stuff I’ve been suggested

1; Thermals/Merino base layer/Polyester fleece/Goose down jacket/Goretex waterproofs

2; Thermals/technical shirt/two layers of fleeces/Ski or snowboard jacket and pants/

3; Thermals/Technical shirts/fleece/sski jacket/goretex waterproofs

Would any of these be particularly useful, or would any of the 3 options suffice?

Any help would be appreicated, cheers.

mountain climbing gear question?

ok i want to get into mt climbing and i have expirence with hiking and have hiked several mountains but i want to start climbig them especially in the winter when there is snow and ice. i live in new york so i was thinking about starting with mt marcy in the winter for more of a challenge and then mabye moving on to harder ones such as wahington, algonquin then climb others. but what gear is needed to climb i already know i need a ice pick axe, and warm clothes and crampons but as far as boots, ropes, and everything else im clueless please help remember i want to climb icy and snowy mountains. thanks
